Avoiding Rejection - Make a Connection
Reach out and touch someone.
In today's fast paced marketing environment...
auto-responders, html e-mails, e-zines, and opt-in lists, we all have a
tendency to forget the powerful force of connecting with people.
Why do people make a decision to join your business? I want to
explore three things that must take place before anyone will join you in your
business. If any is missing, your success rate will be greatly diminished.
- Emotional Involvement
- Your ability to lead
- Belief
1. Your prospect MUST be emotionally
involved. If the prospect is not emotionally involved, they simply will
not choose to join you.
You may be asking your prospect "Why" they are
looking for a home business or why they want to earn additional income. LISTEN
to their answer and then ask probing questions about what is going on in their
lives. For example, they may answer... "I need money so that I can stay at home
with my children." Ask the question, "Really" Why is that? Why is it so
important that you stay home with your kids?" As your propsect talks they will
get "emotionally involved" in their decision about doing something that is
going to enable them to stay home with the kids.
As your prospect
continues to talk, they will begin making a decision in their own mind that
they have to do something. The more they share, the more of a connection you
will make with them and they will begin to feel more comfortable with
you.
2. Your prospect MUST believe in you. Most people are
followers. Are you someone they would want to follow?
The better your
ability to communicate effectively your business opportunity, the better and
more receptive your audience is going to be. When you connect with someone by
showing them you care and you do so in a professional, enthusiastic and
postured manner, the more likely they will see you as a leader - as one they
want to follow.
3. Your prospect MUST believe they can do
it. Your prospect needs to be reassured that you and your team are going
to help them every step of the way.
Let your prospect know that you
have a system in place for them to plug in to. Make sure you understand the
system.. the enrollment process, the follow-up process and how to keep your new
representative plugged in.
How many times in your life were you
hesitant to do something, but someone said, "Come on, it will be fun. I'll show
you, or be with you the whole time," and you did it? Afterwards you thanked
them for it. Those that have kids will understand.
Making a
connection. I'm not suggesting you not use auto-responders, e-mails or
the Internet to help you in your business. On the contrary, I use and embrace
those great technolgies. However what I am saying is, when you have someone
that you have made contact with, don't just whisk them off to a web site or
conference call without "connecting" with them.
We are humans... and we
need that personal contact, that assurance, that connection. Connect with
someone today and they'll follow you a long way! |
